ROBERT WACHSMUTH

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Bob Wachsmuth’s 40-year practice consists of business litigation, construction law, antitrust, intellectual property, and sports and entertainment law as well as arbitration, mediation and all other forms of alternative dispute resolution. He is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Bob was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1966 and is admitted to practice before U.S. District Courts for the Western, Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas, the Courts of Appeal for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Wachsmuth is listed in Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in America and Empire Who’s Who. He has been named a Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly magazine. He has taught and lectured extensively on Construction Law and ADR. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators. Bob was a Captain, Marine Corps JAGC, active duty 1966-1969, Military Judge and Vietnam veteran, earning a Navy Commendation Medal with combat “V”, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

Bob is admitted to practice before the: Texas Supreme Court; Federal District Courts for Eastern, Western and Southern Districts of Texas; United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits; United States Supreme Court.

CONSTRUCTION LAW EXPERIENCE

Bob is a Member of the Steering Committee, Division 8 (International) ABA Forum on the Construction Industry and served on the faculty, Texas A & M University Construction Management and Construction Executive Programs (instructor in construction law and alternative dispute resolution). He is a Member of the ABA Construction Forum Subcommittee publishing first Directory of Experts in the Construction Industry; has extensive experience with the American Arbitration Association and International Chamber of Commerce arbitration of construction claims and with government contract negotiations and claims.

ADR EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Alternative Dispute Resolution Experience Mr. Wachsmuth arbitrates and mediates domestic and international claims. He serves as an arbitration and mediation panelist for the: American Arbitration Association (1974—present); National Arbitration Forum; Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; and U.S. District Courts, Southern and Western Districts of Texas. He has acted as an arbitrator and mediator in consumer, homeowner, Deceptive Trade Practices Act, construction, contract, health care, leasing, real estate, anticompetition, ocean charter, broadcasting, and international business disputes. He was a founding member of the State Bar of Texas Standing Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution (now ADR Section); an author/presenter “An Overview of Current Arbitration Law and Procedures” San Antonio Bar Association Second Annual Bench-Bar Conference (March 1999) and the State Bar of Texas, Arbitration Law Course, “A Discussion of Arbitration: What to Tell Your Client.”

Alternative Dispute Resolution Training Bob completed the American Arbitration Association Arbitrators II Training 2003; AAA Arbitrator Update 2001; AAA Construction Industry Arbitrator Training, Houston, July 1997; AAA Fast Track Arbitrator Training, Dallas, May 1996; faculty, AAA Advanced Arbitration Training Program, 1995; and Fast Track to Fellowship Programme Assessment Workshop, March 18-20, 2003, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
