MICHAEL RICHARDS
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Michael has over 30 years of
experience in the construction industry, both hands on in the field and in
management. After a successful partnership with a close friend where he was
President of their business New Age Builders, he moved on to create his current
remodeling company Rich Built, Inc. which specializes in residential remodeling.
Prior to his involvement in construction he was a general manager at the retail
level for eight years and a firefighter with the Albuquerque Fire Dept for
three.
After finding his passion for building he went on to become involved in his
local home builders association (Home Builders Association of Central New
Mexico) and eventually became its President in 2007; soon after he was named
“Builder of the Year”. Leadership came naturally to him so he moved on to
actively participating in his State Home Builders Association (NMHBA) where he
was elected to the position of President in 2012. He was recently recognized as
the “New Mexico Builder of the Year” and continues to participate on the state
board with “Life Director” status.
On the national level of the construction industry he was recently awarded the
title of “Life Director” by the NAHB for his continued participation as a
director and board member for the past 10 plus years.
Michael is very proud of the fact that he has never been involved in litigation,
both personally and professionally and he attributes this to his diligent
efforts to keep clear and updated communication with his clients. The only times
that he has appeared in court have been as an expert witness.
Michael is also very proud of his strong relationships within the business
community. He is trusted and often turned to for help with projects that support
his city and its concerns. He has chaired the Remodelors Council, the Home
Builders Care Committee and been a board member for the Women’s Housing
Coalition; all of which help community members who are in need of support in one
way or another. “Returning” to the community is a faith based activity that he
continues to practice throughout each year.
Dedicated to the love of his life Diana, their five kids and seven
grandchildren, his life continues to be filled with blessings. His most time
consuming hobby is writing, playing and recording music with his two best
friends Tony and Ken. This is an activity that has been a major part of his life
for the last thirty-three years.
