SCOTT REICHLE

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Scott Reichle joined the firm of Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein, L.C. in 2010 as a lateral partner. He is a litigator within the firm’s business law group and handles a wide range of cases including matters that involve environmental law, construction law, commercial litigation land use, zoning and riparian rights. He has extensive experience in state and federal courts and has tried numerous jury trials.

Scott Reichle graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1989 and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in environmental engineering from Old Dominion University in 1993. He graduated magna cum laude from Loyola School of Law in 1996. While at Loyola, he served as an editor on the Law Review.

He is also a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and for two years was a Professor at the Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University where he taught courses including construction law, boundary line law and construction project management. He also has experience as an environmental engineer where he worked with numerous clients to ensure compliance with RCRA and CIRCLA and worked on various aspects of environmental impact statements (EIS), environmental audits, and environmental assessments. In addition, he worked as a field engineer for a large regional construction company wherein he performed project scheduling, estimating and performed all aspects of a field engineer at several industrial construction projects including paper mills, chemical plants and the former Ford Motor Company assembly plant. He is also a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Experience  

Mr. Reichle has represented, and continues to represent a number of regional commercial and heavy construction contractors within the Hampton Roads region. He has handled complex construction litigation issues such as mechanic’s lien litigation, bonding claims, and claims of defective construction. He has also litigated numerous real estate related matters including issues associated with ownership, valuation, eminent domain, easements and environmental contamination.  Likewise, he has handled numerous land use, zoning and riparian rights cases. He has been lead counsel on numerous complex cases before circuit courts throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. In addition, he has made appearances before the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court.
