KEN DURRELL

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Mr. Durrell has held an Oregon Real Estate license since April, 1971. He was employed in real estate, construction and public financing. He retired after over 35 years in the construction lending and permanent finance lending business. His work included review of plans and specifications, site plans, as well as on-site inspection of construction. His experience includes subdivision development, single family and multi-family residential dwellings and municipal utility and community facilities projects. He has extensive experience with single family and multi-family residential lending and he spent the last 20 years of his employment working in financing of water and waste disposal utility systems, public buildings and facilities for municipalities, Indian Tribes and non-profit organizations.

During his career, he received training in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and has written many class I and class II environmental assessments for publicly financed facilities. Several of these environmental assessments involved sensitive environmental issues like wetlands and floodplains, archeological resources, and endangered species. He has also had experience in working with Oregon’s land use planning laws.

From 1981 to 1987 Mr. Durrell was a designated hearings officer for Federal Agency administrative appeals program, hearing appeals of adverse decisions made by the Federal Agency. He held hearing for appellants in Oregon, Washington and California. Based on the fact presented in the hearing and a set of administrative rules, he issued written decisions letters in each of those cases.

Mr. Durrell holds an Oregon Real Estate Brokers License (currently inactive). He was active in the real estate business for several years.

In 2001, Mr. Durrell began his mediation practice, mediating business disputes and particularly real estate and construction cases. He has successfully mediated over 200 cases. He handles cases on a fee basis, as well as volunteers his services through the Oregon Circuit Court for Lane County small claims court program and Community Mediation Services, a local non-profit organization.
