JOHN PIAZZA
GENERAL OVERVIEW
John Piazza is the
Washington State Director for CDRS.
Piazza Construction Inc was formed in 1973. John began his construction career
working for a builder running all his custom homes until 1975 when he decided to
devote all of his time to Piazza Construction. At that time Piazza started
building award winning one of a kind custom homes and office buildings. A few of
his more recent awards include: In 1992 Piazza Construction received the
Regional ACE Award and later the National ACE Award...Award for Construction
Excellence. In 1996 Piazza received the National "Pacesetter Award" from Custom
Home Magazine.
Most Piazza Construction homes have won awards in the Association Tour of homes.
In the 2010 Tour of Homes, there were 16 homes entered in the contest and there
were 11 awards. Piazza won 9 of the 11 awards.
In 1980 John formed Piazza Reality and Property Management that later became
Coldwell Banker Piazza Reality. Also in 1980 John formed Design Consultants a 3
man blueprint company still in operation today helps people design one of a kind
homes. Building joint Ventures with investment groups has led Piazza to form
many LLC's that have led to alternate income for John: Heritage Place Apartments
a 204 unit rental complex, Maple Park Apartments a 184 unit rental complex both
called the Country Club of Apartment Living , several Office Warehouse
buildings, several Office Buildings, SOS Mini Storage - 800 unit complex , 3
different Retirement / Assisted Living complexes...the last one was on 6 acres
with over 130 units of assisted, memory loss, and independent living units, Cove
at Fidalgo condo complex ..on the beach looking at Mount Baker Mountain. As well
as many land development / lot projects the largest one was Sunset Cove - a 100
lot complex on the Puget Sound looking west at the sunsets, just to name a
few..there were many other projects that can be seen on my website.
John was the President of the Home Owners Warranty Council for several years
from 1995 and served on the National Advisory Committee for the Northwest
Region.
John has devoted a major part of his life to the National Home Builders
Association (NAHB) and his local a state builders associations. He became a
member of the Seattle builders association in 1977. In 1980 John and two of his
friends formed the Skagit / Island Counties Builders Association (SICBA). That
association now has 600 plus members . Soon after forming the association john
went up the ladder with SICBA and became the president in 1987. John received
the local Builder of the Year Award in 1983 and then again in 1987. John also
received the State Builder of the Year Award in 1988 and again in 1996. With his
involvement in the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW), John
served as the State President in 1992 and 1996 was honored to be inductred
inducted into the BIAW Hall of Fame.
John's involvement with NAHB led him on to become the NAHB Area Vice President
for Area 15 with oversight of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska.
John has been a member of the NAHB for the last 16 years and "Chaired " the
following committees:...in 1998 John was appointed by the NAHB president to
chair the National Representatives with oversight for all 50 states, then went
on to chair...the Custom Home Builders Committee, Small Volume Builders
committee, Research Committee, the Commercial Council, the Multi Housing
Council, the Senior Housing Builders Council, the Production Committee , was the
Washington State Rep for 2007 and 2008 and then again in 2010 and 2011 . John is
currently a trustee on the NAHB Research Center, a alternate trustee of Build
Pac, sitting on the Custom Builders committee, and the Codes committee, and a
member of the Remodeler's council. John is certified by NAHB to teach 'Creating
Alternate Income for Builders' and also teaches at IBS How to Diversify your
Business and Family in Business. John is currently the NAHB Washington State
Representative serving on the Executive Board of Directors of the NAHB.
Over 20 years ago John chaired the committee that created the hottest selling
book that is well used by all builder members called “Residential Construction
Performance Guidelines" now in the Fourth Edition. Working with Builder books,
John has proofed and added content to many of the books currently sold in the
NAHB Bookstore today.
Piazza is certified under the NAHB CAPS program "Certified Ageing in Place " as
well as the Washington Green Builder program.
John has been featured in over 120 different Builder Magazines all industry
related such as Custom Builder Magazine, Professional Builder magazine, Senior
Housing News , Lowes for Pros, and several other magazines.
On a community level John has been in Rotary for over 25 years working on MANY
community projects as well as foreign country wells and hospitals and has served
as there Assistant District Governor, active with the YMCA, worked with the Boy
Scouts and was Chair of the Parents Association and has received the Order of
the Arrow, was President of the Economic Development Association of Skagit
County ( EDAMS ) |
