ARCHITECTURAL AND CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Mr. Peters’ early interest in trying to improve the design of products and the
love of making things, led him to his first real project, for the Soap Box
Derby. At eleven years of age he constructed a car that was to earn him two
third place finishes in the Detroit area. From that learning experience he
became a laborer on a small construction crew while attending college. After
college Mr. Peters began his professional career first working for a large
architectural firm as a draftsman then quickly advancing to the design
department where he became a senior designer. Lured away from the architectural
industry by a friend and curiosity of what does an architect does in the car
industry, Mr. Peters found himself designing and supervising the design-build
process through the construction of automotive dealerships. After learning the
process of the design-build concept he was drawn to the housing industry. As
Director of Architecture and Construction for a large Detroit area homebuilder,
he was able to utilize his design-build knowledge applying it to single family
and multiple housing.
In 1973 Mr. Peters left this position and began his Architectural Company
followed six months later by the formation the sister Construction Management
and Development Company. The projects of these two companies include corporate
500 office buildings, commercial buildings, educational buildings, high-tech
science manufacturing facilities, interior renovations, marina design and
construction, residential additions and million dollar plus homes. Many of these
projects have received awards.
Through this varied design and construction experience others began to respect
the quality and precision of his work. Thus, was his emergence into the legal
arena as an expert witness. While performing this function, Mr. Peters observed
that there were many deficiencies of fairness and knowledge of the architectural
and construction industry and its processes. For this reason Mr. Peters has
become involved in the construction dispute resolution process.
