Owner, President of 12 employee inspection and consulting firm in Toledo, OH that performs 2,000 – 2,500 residential and commercial inspections per year. Founded Seagate Consulting Services, Inc. dba Seagate Inspections, Inc. in April 1992

35 years of experience in residential and light commercial construction

28 years as a Licensed General Contractor (License #BTR03635HRC)

12 years of experience in heavy insurance repair to homes and small businesses (J&R Contracting Co., Inc. from 1979 - 1992, fire damage, water damage, windstorm damage, vehicle damage, etc.)

22 years of experience as a building consultant performing residential and commercial building inspections and trouble-shooting of problems, with an emphasis on building envelope and roof trouble-shooting (1992 to present)

Served as expert witness in building related disputes many times over the past 15 years
Served as Construction Arbitrator for over 10 years

Education highlights:

  • Level I (2007), Level II (2008), & Level III (2012) training and certification as an Infrared Thermographer for buildings and building systems

  • Training and obtained “Certified EIFS Inspector” (CEI) status through the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry (AWCI). Currently working on a similar designation through The Exterior Design Institute (EDI)

  • Certified Mold Inspector through Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) – (March 2004) and National Organization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors (NORMI) (December 2009)

  • Roof Technology and Science Level I and Level II – Humber College, Toronto, Ontario, 2008

  • Rooftop Quality Assurance – Humber College, Toronto, Ontario, 2008

  • Professional Roof Consulting – Humber College, Toronto, Ontario, 2008

  • Tested and obtained Registered Roof Observer status with the Roof Consulting Institute (RCI) after completion of the above roofing courses in the Spring of 2008

  • Low Slope Roofing Systems – Membrane, Metal, Sprayed Foam, plus Vegetative, Photovoltaic, and Cool Roof Applications – University of Wisconsin, Madison, College of Engineering (December 2009)

  • Water Entry Prevention and Moisture Control in Buildings – Exterior Walls and Roofing Systems – University of Wisconsin, Madison, College of Engineering (December 2011)
